Chelsea Back on Top of WSL with Controversial Win over Everton

Chelsea Regain Top Spot in Women's Super League with Controversial Win over Everton

Reiten's Penalties and Cuthbert's Strike Secure 3-0 Victory

Chelsea regained top spot in the Women's Super League thanks to two controversial penalties scored by Guro Reiten and a clinical finish from Erin Cuthbert in a 3-0 victory over Everton.

Reiten scored two penalties in the 27th and 72nd minutes, while Cuthbert added the third goal in the 83rd minute to restore Chelsea's three-point lead at the top of the table.

Chelsea Dominate from the Start

Chelsea started the match on the front foot and took the lead in the 27th minute when Reiten converted a penalty after Everton defender Gabby George was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area. The decision was controversial, with many believing that George did not handle the ball intentionally.

Chelsea continued to dominate the match and doubled their lead in the 72nd minute when Reiten scored another penalty. This time, Everton goalkeeper Sandy MacIver was adjudged to have brought down Bethany England in the area. Again, the decision was controversial, with many believing that MacIver had won the ball.

Cuthbert Seals the Win

Cuthbert sealed the win for Chelsea in the 83rd minute with a clinical finish from close range. The goal came after good work from Reiten, who crossed the ball into the area for Cuthbert to tap home.

The win was Chelsea's fourth in a row in the Women's Super League and keeps them firmly in control of the title race with four games remaining.
