Maple Creek Recreation Area Opens to Public

New Recreation Area Offers Variety of Activities

Leigh, NE (June 1, 2011)

The Maple Creek Recreation Area near Leigh opened to the public in May 2011. The 557-acre project includes a 160-acre reservoir divided into two parts by County Road 6800. The watershed covers 75 acres of land, with conservation practices installed throughout.

The recreation area offers a variety of activities, including hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails. There are also picnic and playground equipment, as well as camping facilities with 10 tent sites and 50 RV hookups.
